Iced Mochas and Kimchi

What to pack if you are coming to South Korea

So I know I have been here only six days but I already have a pretty good list of items anyone coming from the west should pack. For a more detailed list and other hot (living in Korea) tips I would check out one of my favorite blogs The Daily Kimchi

Anyway here is my short list for now, I will probably update this list as the weather changes and I gain more experience, but here goes::

  1. Definitely pack a couple bath towels, the ones here are wash cloth sized and I am currently waiting on my family to mail me a couple. I never knew what a simple pleasure large towels were to me until now.
  2. Probably advil, tylenol, airborne…Simple medications that are a bit harder to find.
  3. Your favorite toothpaste, deodorant, and personal products especially if you love Toms of Maine, Dr. Bronner’s and other organic, chemical free products. I have seen The Body Shop here, but I really love my organic, phosphate free, good for the mother earth products.
  4. People have told me that winter is very cold, so a very good set of warm clothes and jacket. I have my mountain hardware techie jacket with me so, I will be set for anything.
  5. If you are a rock climber then bring your gear, it is on. There seems to be a terrific expat and Korean climbing community here. I can’t wait to check it out!
This is my main list for now…I am sure I will update as necessary.
